Four Marketing Trends to Watch in 2019

Simply put, digital marketing can’t be ignored. Using an effective marketing and advertising campaign can help any business increase the demand of a certain product or service they offer.

Times have changed and so has marketing. If you want to go where people are, it is a MUST that you are active online. Marketing is different today than it was 10 years ago. Many of the apps/platforms we use today didn’t even exist. Crazy right!? It’s impossible to imagine a world without these apps readily available at our fingertips.

Since so much is changing so quickly, how do you market your target audience online?  With the new year upon us, let's take a look at these four digital marketing trends every marketer should get behind in 2019.

Content is King

As marketers, we already know that we need to entice our audience—excite them and appeal to their emotions.

But how?

Content is the heart of any marketing strategy, and you should aim to always create captivating content.

Create the type of information that will leave your audience feeling engaged and encouraged to share your post for others to see and respond too. Content makes it possible for a two-way communication with your audience, which is crucial for building trust.

Valuable and captivating content may not be so easy to make, but is an essential and important tool in today’s marketing climate.

Video is a must. No ifs ands or buts about it.

According to Pew Research center, 73 percent of American adults are using YouTube online or on their phones, which means more than half of Americans are watching videos, and a lot of it for that matter.

Video is one of the most profitable and versatile digital marketing services out there. When you think about it, the effectiveness of video marketing isn’t even surprising as most of the information transmitted to our brain is visual, which makes it easier to remember and act upon.

Whether you’re creating videos for YouTube, Facebook, Instagram or your own website, videos are an incredible and effective digital marketing tool.

Voice search is on the rise

Verbal interactions with devices are continuing to rise thanks to Alexa, Siri, and Google. This means that verbal communication is a preferred way of interacting, and smart devices are catching up to how people want to search.

After all who doesn’t like being able to say “Hey Alexa” or “Hey Google place an order for those groceries on my grocery list.”

Voice search is catching on because it’s easier to find information without pulling your phone out, reducing screen time.

This is one area digital marketers should not ignore. They need to make sure their products or services are optimized for voice search within the next year, or they can expect to lose traffic.

Email marketing is becoming more personalized

Email marketing continues to be a major channel of communication whether it be for personal, commercial, legal or academic. Email marketing is a force used by marketers and business owners to increase ROI. Email marketing is here to stay.

However, email marketing is changing. Sending out generic boring emails will not cut it anymore. Personalization and automation will lead the way in 2019.

Automated emails include the reader’s first name between the first and third paragraph of an email, or information unique to the reader.

Implementing strategies like these will make the material feel more personal, which may motivate them to act.
